Hidden Canyon Guest Ranch is nestled in the hills on the eastern slope of the Mt. Wheeler Range, just outside the border of Great Basin National Park in Nevada.  It is comprised of 384 acres in a long wooded canyon, far away from the frantic pace of any city.

Our rich pioneer and mining history is still evident in the log cabins on the ranch, 100-year-old orchards producing fruit, and various artifacts and horse-drawn implements on display.  Modern conveniences such as running water, state of the art equipment, and comfortable accommodations are added to make the guests’ visit more enjoyable.

In the camping area there are tepees and bedroom cabanas for rent, each furnished with extra long twin beds or king beds, fresh linen, electric blankets and lights.  The bath house has hot showers, sinks and flush toilets.  An enclosed cooking pavilion and well-equipped commercial kitchen are available to provide a protected area for group meals and special events.

For those guests looking for more luxurious lodging, the Lodge at Hidden Canyon provides bed and breakfast in an upscale setting.  In the Lodge, an inviting great hall is the place to play billiards or to enjoy entertainment around the grand piano, conversation with other guests, or find a quiet spot to read a book from our extensive library.  Many guests appreciate the quality art collection which graces the walls of the Lodge.

Our guests enjoy the serenity and quiet of outdoor living at its best.  In the early summer there are baby animals eager to make friends.  A deep appreciation of life in an earlier time comes from observing the unspoiled surroundings and hearing tales of pioneers and outlaws who used to inhabit the ranch in the 1800’s.  This is one of the last prime areas in the United States to find a truly dark night sky, giving us an unmatched opportunity for stargazing in the evenings.  An early morning or evening walk is a good time to enjoy the wildlife – mule deer, wild turkeys, pheasants, and many other bird species.

A heated outdoor swimming pool, a playground for children, board games of all types, volleyball, croquet in the rough, and unlimited hiking trails provide continuous opportunities for interaction among our guests.  Bring your own group, or join one of ours.

Maximum group size for lodging in beds is 33.  Larger groups are welcome if guests are willing to camp, using their own tents and sleeping bags.  Additional camping areas and spaces for small RV’s (nothing over 35 feet, limited electrical hookups, no dump station) are located near the bath house.  Our facilities can easily accommodate groups of up to 150.  If you book all the rooms with beds, you may reserve Hidden Canyon for your exclusive use, but be sure to book early.  We are currently taking reservations for next summer and fall.

Construction has begun on a beautiful new building we call Roseberry Court.  Completion is scheduled for summer 2008.  This building will provide 12 luxury suites, including ADA accommodations, and a small convention center, providing ideal space for corporate retreats, weddings, business training sessions, and other special events.

Our warm weather season is June through September.  The Lodge at Hidden Canyon is open by reservation year-round.

We suggest that guests bring a warm jacket, warm night clothes, comfortable walking shoes, flashlights & extra batteries, camera, sunscreen, lotion & lip balm, shade hat, basic first aid supplies, prescription medications, and plenty of water to stay hydrated.

We are happy to prepare meals for you with at least 2 week notice.  Prices depend on the menus chosen.

Pets are welcome in the camping areas, tepees and cabins, as long as they are on a leash or in a kennel at all times.  Basic kennel facilities are available for your dog while you are visiting Great Basin National Park.

Many people ask us if dirt bikes or ATVs are allowed.  The answer is a resounding “yes.”  There are many miles of wonderful, unrestricted roads and trails surrounding our canyon where you may ride such vehicles.  You may also use them for sightseeing on our property, although no unlicensed drivers will be allowed, and you must observe speed limits and stay on established trails.

We also can board a limited number of horses.  Horses are allowed in Great Basin National Park and there are many places to enjoy riding in our area.
